Crewe Shedders

Was started 13 years ago by AGE UK with the help of Lottery funding, when this funding ended JTI stepped in to fund the shed, again via AGE UK.

Unfortunately this funding came to an end at the end of August 2022 so when we were informed that the funding would end and AGE UK would no longer seek funding for the shed, we had to start our own fundraising to keep the shed open. We started by registering as a CIO Charity (No; 1196566).

We are glad to say that without the Bentley Cheshire Community Foundation Grant last year that allowed us to take over the running of the shed as without this the shed would have been forced to close down though lack of funds. We could not be more thankful to them for their grant. This certainly went a long way to ensuring we could continue the good work of the shed, but obviously we still have to seek funding to continue. So now we are currently  seeking funding / sponsorship / donations from various businesses / individuals to help towards the costs of rent, rates, electricity, insurance, equipment etc to keep the shed going. Perhaps also help in completing funding applications.

We are a not-for profit registered charity

The objectives of Crewe men in Sheds CIO is to promote social inclusion and relieve the needs of those affected by social isolation or loneliness which includes people impacted by retirement, unemployment, bereavement, old age, disability or ill health (mental or physical).

This is achieved by encouraging men or ladies to talk about their concerns and experiences around their health issues and providing facilities where they can meet and undertake such activities as woodwork, pyrography, craft, creative and recreational activities along with basic computer tuition thus learning new skills in support of others in the group and in the community.

This includes involvement with and supporting community projects and working with other charities and voluntary organisations. A few of these include Cheshire Wildlife Trust , Start Well At The Wishing Well, and the Sea Cadets.

We have our own Facebook page . Please visit it to learn more about us.
